ADMISSION PROCEDURES
The Christian School of GBC accepts boys and girls in Kindergarten through
8th grade.
The
following is a list of policies established for enrollment of students:
Applications
Parents wishing to enroll their child/children into the school may go to
STUDENT APPLICATION FORM in this web site, or contact
the school office and request application forms that, when completed, must be returned to the school.

Interviews
After the application form has been returned to the office, an interview will be
scheduled by the Headmaster. Applicants and parents/guardians should be present
at the interview. Students entering grades 1-8 will be administered a skills
assessment test. A developmental screening will be administered to prospective
Kindergarten students.
Age Requirements
Children who have attained the age of five years on or before September first
may be admitted to Kindergarten. Children who have attained the age of six years
on or before September 1st may be admitted to the First Grade. A birth
certificate or other authentic proof of age document shall be furnished at the
time of registration.
Exceptions
Children reaching the age of 5 or 6 during the month of September may be
admitted to our school based on the following procedure. All requests for
exceptions to the minimum age for Kindergarten and First Grade admissions
shall
be directed
to the Headmaster. The request for exception to the minimum age requirements
must be accompanied by a statement from a certified psychologist that the child
is developmentally, socially, emotionally and academically ready to be enrolled
in kindergarten. No child shall be granted early admission to kindergarten if
he/she will not have attained a chronological age of five years as of September
30th and a mental age of two years above his/her chronological age. No child
shall be granted early admission to first grade if he/she will not have attained
a chronological age of six years as of September 30th and a mental age of two
years above his/her chronological age. After receiving the request for an
exception and the accompanying documentation from a certified psychologist, the
Headmaster will either recommend approval or disapproval in writing to the Board
of School directors. No student will be considered for enrollment who has not
attained the age of 5 (Kindergarten) or 6 (First Grade) by the September 30th
date.
Waiting List
Students placed on a waiting list will be contacted of openings only at the
beginning of a semester. These students will be contacted in order of their
placement on the waiting list which is determined by the first date of
notification of their intent to enroll. Children of members of Grade Baptist
Church will receive first priority in filling any openings at the beginning of
the semester.
Transfer Students
Transfer students will be interviewed by the Headmaster and will be tested. When
transferring from other schools, it is important to bring the most recent report
card along to the interview. Following acceptance, the Headmaster will make the
final request for transfer of records from the previous school.
